Khmer people have very good taste in foods. Most Khmer people would not hesitate to try foods from different countries.
With the history of about hundreds of years of being colonized by the French, more Khmer people began cooking food influenced by French cuisine. Plus, some Khmer people living abroad in different countries adopted and preferred other ethnic foods to traditional Khmer foods. But most Khmer villagers, especially Khmer Krom villagers, prefer only truly Khmer foods, not because they don't like to try other ethnic foods but because they are too poor to buy ingredients to cook other ethic foods. Most of Khmer Krom villagers cannot event afford to buy seafood even though seafood is the cheapest and most abundant in Kampuchea Krom (now know as South Vietnam). Sigh !!!
These are a few of my family's favorite international recipes that I’ve learned to cook and have modified to cater to my Khmer Krom taste.
